損害保険とは

損害保険（そんがいほけん。英: general insurance, non-life insurance、仏: assurance de dommages）とは、損害保険会社が取り扱う保険商品の総称。略して損保（そんぽ）とも呼ばれる。風水害などの自然災害や自動車の衝突事故など、偶然な事故により生じた損害を補償するのが目的であり、保険会社が予想する損害率に応じて保険料（損害保険料）が定められる。
